The Fatalii chilli plant grows to around 60 - 75cm tall producing up to 7.5cm long, tapered pods with deep ribs through them. Originating from South Africa, these golden yellow/orange pods have a unique citrus flavour unlike other chillies of the capsicum chinense variety. They also have thin walls making them perfect for drying out.
It has a similar heat to the habanero, around 125 - 500SHUs, but rather than the slow build of a habanero, it has an immediate hot mouth burn - but after that quick first punch, the delicious and unusual citrusy flavours come out.
I would have to say that it is one of my favourites both for taste and heat.
